Terms of Service

1. Account Creation

Humble Zen creates an anonymous account for you automatically on first launch. You may later link it to an email address, Google account, or Apple ID. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Any activity that occurs under your account is your responsibility.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Humble Zen only for lawful purposes. You must not use the app to record, store, or transmit any material that is defamatory, obscene, illegal, or that infringes on the rights of others — including recording conversations without the consent of all parties where required by law.

Humble Media reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or engage in any unlawful activity.

3. Payment and Refunds

Humble Zen offers a free tier and an optional one-time Pro upgrade ($19.99 USD). AI features (summaries, flashcards, quizzes, chat, cheat sheets) consume AI credits purchased separately. All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's payment and refund policies.

Humble Media does not offer subscriptions. There are no auto-renewals and no recurring charges. AI credits do not expire. Refund requests outside of Apple's standard policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis at Humble Media's sole discretion.

4. Intellectual Property

Humble Zen and all content included in the app and on this website — including the name, logo, design, and software — are the property of Humble Media and are protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, distribute, or modify the app or its content without prior written permission.

Your recordings, transcripts, and notes remain yours. Humble Media does not claim ownership of any content you create using the app.

5. On-Device Transcription

Audio transcription in Humble Zen runs entirely on your device using an embedded Whisper model. Your audio files are never uploaded to Humble Media servers or any third-party service. When you use AI features (summaries, quizzes, etc.), only the text transcript is transmitted — never the audio itself.

6. Limitation of Liability

Humble Zen is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Humble Media is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost data, lost profits, or service interruptions — arising from your use of or inability to use the app.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Humble Media and its affiliates, officers, and employees harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of Humble Zen or your violation of these terms.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

9. Changes to These Terms

Humble Media may update these terms at any time. When we do, we'll update the effective date above. Your continued use of Humble Zen after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
